Rich joined the firm in 1976 after graduating from the University of Washington School of Law and clerking for Justice Charles Horowitz at the Washington State Supreme Court. Rich was Managing Editor of the Washington Law Review while in law school and has had papers published in several legal journals Originally from Monterey, California, he received his undergraduate degree with honors in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1971. Rich's practice emphasizes business planning, civil litigation, estate planning, probate, and real estate.

He is an active member of the Air Force Reserve since 1978 and serves on the Editorial Advisory Committee of the Washington State Bar.  Rich is also a member of the Lewis County Economic Development Council, an officer of the Centralia-Chehalis Elks Lodge, and a football official for the Southwest Washington Officials' Association.

Rich is married to Suzanne and lives in Centralia.  He has two children, Kara and Kelli.
